Chamber Music New Zealand, Wellington Museum, and Pātaka Art + Museum are joining forces this Matariki to present family concerts that weave the hauntingly beautiful music of taonga puoro and traditional chamber music instruments in a unique homage to Matariki.
Cultures will meld in a beautiful sound fusion as we join internationally acclaimed New Zealand String Quartet, ngā taonga puoro artist Alistair Fraser, Te Reo Māori performer and composer Ariana Tikao, and students from Virtuoso Strings Orchestra, Porirua, for this uplifting performance. This will be a sensory feast that re-affirms our place in the universe.
Shut your eyes and open your ears as the music of Aotearoa intertwines.
Friday 16 June – two performances at Wellington Museum (6pm & 8pm)
Saturday 17 June – one performance at Pātaka Art + Museum (2pm)

Sun shining face you’re full of grace, Peninsular. I’m singing you to sleep. My heart, my soul, in you I keep. Sun shining face you’re full of grace, Peninsular. I’m loving you to sleep. My heart, my soul, in you I keep. Sun shining face you’re full of grace, Peninsular…
