Thank you for considering a gift to Chamber Music New Zealand
When a group of enthusiasts formed New Zealand’s first chamber music society in the final months of the Second World War, they had no idea how it would grow. Now, seven decades later, Chamber Music New Zealand brings concerts to towns and cities the length and breadth of New Zealand. In 2016 our artists will perform more than 130 concerts. From superstar soloists to string quartets, percussionists to singers and saxophone quartets, early music ensembles to jazz piano, we celebrate the rich diversity of music performed for friends, by friends.
But our work doesn’t stop at the concert hall door. Thousands of school children will rehearse and perform together in our Chamber Music Contest, experiencing the joy, nerves and exhilaration of being on a public stage. Members of the blind community will get to touch and hold instruments as they are played by our artists, and experience concerts with narrated descriptions of the scenes that sighted concertgoers take for granted. And children with special needs will perform alongside professional musicians in inspiring and lively performances in their communities.
