The New Zealand String Quartet, Jonathan Lemalu, the NZTrio, Stephen de Pledge and Anna Leese are just a few of the New Zealand musicians who are performing at the City of London Festival, which kicked off on 26 June. The Festival has a particular focus on music from New Zealand, Australia and the South Pacific this year, and concerts include works by John Psathas, Douglas Lilburn, Gareth Farr, Eve de Castro-Robinson, Ross Harris and Jack Body, to name a few of the New Zealand composers featured.
On Monday 11 July, the New Zealand String Quartet will perform at Merchant Taylors' Hall in a concert that also features internationally-renowned New Zealand bass-baritone Jonathan Lemalu. The Quartet will perform the world premiere of a new Chamber Music New Zealand commission by Lyell Cresswell, titled Kotetetete. Funds for this commission were provided by Creative New Zealand.
