On Thursday October 21, the hall of Nelson's Victory Primary School rang out to the sound of over 100 children and teachers singing and dancing alongside Julian Raphael and the members of The Song Company.
The two-week pilot project was a tremendous success and the benefits of having music as daily activity in primary schools were clearly evident. Following the concert, teachers were already asking to be involved again. As as result, fundraising for running the full Ensembles in Schools project in Nelson in 2011 has begun.
CMNZ is committed to re-vitalising music education in schools and will return to Whanganui and Nelson in 2011 to reach more children and teachers with this unique music education project.
