Chamber Music Summer School for Secondary School Students

9 September 2011

The University of Otago Music Department is planning to run a summer school for secondary school students based at Marama Hall during the week of January 24th-28th, 2012.

In past years this has been a successful and productive chamber music programme for string players and pianists with a limited number of places available. For 2012 the university is considering extending the enrolment to interested wind players on a discretionary basis.

The course provides students with the opportunity to experience chamber music under the guidance of experienced and supportive tutors. Each participant will be assigned to a chamber music group. Pre-formed groups will be accepted.

During the week each chamber group will spend in-depth rehearsal and coaching time onone specific work that they will then perform at the final concert on Saturday afternoon. A brochure for enrolment will be published in due course, but this is an initial letter to gauge the level of interest amongst students (strings/piano/winds) in this programme.
