In 2010 we will celebrate six decades of presenting inspiring music to generations of New Zealanders with a Kaleidoscopes Concert Season that recalls the very best of past seasons while also introducing the latest rising stars. Six of our ensembles will visit all ten centres in this diamond anniversary year.
The Borodin Quartet will be the jewel-in-the-crown for many with their decades-long Russian legacy launching celebrations in all ten main centres. The Doric String Quartet collaborating with pianist Piers Lane, and violinist Josef Spacek, winner of the Michael Hill International Violin Competition represent young ensembles at the beginning of international careers. Lovers of the Baroque era will enjoy the Wallfisch Band, in a programme of music by Vivaldi and Locatelli that recalls the spirit of a Venetian Carnival. The NZTrio will present a marvellously eclectic programme of music from around the Pacific - alongside two masterful trios by Schumann, and The Song Company's two programmes will both be sure to delight.
As our way of marking this special year we finish with a Schubertiade presented by Michael Houstoun and the New Zealand String Quartet. Subscribers to the 2010 Kaleidoscopes Concert Season will receive this wonderful concert as a gift.
Subscribing to the 2010 Kaleidoscopes Concert Season will also guarantee the best available seat at the most cost effective price. To download a copy of our 2010 brochure, click here. Follow this link to download a subscription form for your centre.
