Another winning performance from pianist John Chen

Chamber Music New Zealand congratulates the Saguaro Trio, comprising John Chen (piano), Peter Myers (cello) Luanne Homzy (violin) for their win in the inaugural International Chamber Music Competition Hamburg.

 

Competing against an inital round of 24 trios, the Saguaro Trio passed two elimination rounds to get into the final three who competed on Saturday night.  As well as money, the prize package also includes a tour opportunity and CD recording.

 

The competition was open to string quartets and piano trios and takes place every three years.  President of the jury was distiguished pianist and musician Menhem Pressler, founding member of the renowned Beaux Arts Trio.
