The last Session of the year

Wednesday, 22 November 2017

The first Wednesday of each month we take over the upstairs level of the The Third Eye, Tuatara's Temple of Taste to present "Classical Sessions".

Established musicians and emerging artists get together for a one-hour jam amongst friends. Forget the big concert halls, nice dresses and concert etiquette - it’s a time to experiment, relax, and remember what chamber music is really about.

If you are around Wellington on Wednesday 6 December, pop in to The Third Eye, bring a friend and help us celebrate the end of another brilliant year.

We kick off at 6pm with Toru, a trio consisting of three principal players from Orchestra Wellington, followed by Jazz trio Ol’ King Cole.

Flute, Viola and Harp come together thanks to Karen Batten, Sophia Acheson and  Ingrid Bauer.  All well-known Orchestra Wellington principal players, the trio is  also very active in the local musical scene. The photo below was taken earlier in the year, when they performed for CMNZ at the He Huarahi Tamariki School for Teen Parents.

Ol’ King Cole

This Wellington-based Jazz trio  performs music inspired by the great Nat ‘King’ Cole and other artists of his era.  Led by piano/vocalist, Louis Thompson-Munn, the trio consists of Robert ‘Bert Hendo’ Henderson on double bass (Wellington City Shake-em-on-Downers), and Callum Allardice on guitar (The Jac).

We'll be back in 2018 from the first Wednesday in March, look out for updates from our Facebook page.
