Entries have now closed for the 2010 contest.
Thanks to a grant from ABRSM, Chamber Music New Zealand is able to continue the valuable coaching opportunities for students in 2010. Coaching is available for both instrumental performance and for original compositions. If your group has applied for coaching, you will be notified by the end of April.
For the 2010 contest, there are a some changes to the rules at both District and National Contest level. To read the full conditions of entry please go to the Contest Entry Page. A couple of key changes to note are:-
1. In 2010 to be eligible for selection to the National Semi-Finals, a group must perform an entire work, or movements from a single work by one composer. Single works or movements of works must be heard in their entirety. No cuts to music are allowed. Repeats are optional.
2. Groups may perform mulitple works by more than one composer at District level providing they keep within the set time limits (performance time not be less than 4 minutes or more than 15 mintues) however they will not be considered for selection for the National Semi-Finals.
3. At all levels of the contest, groups need to provide one copy of an original manuscript for the adjudicator. It is preferred that the entire score be provided for this purpose - a set of parts is acceptable only as a last resort. If a score is out-of-print groups should provide a photocopy. If scores are bought on-line, groups should confirm that they have done so by email. If the musicians are going to deviate from the music in the score in any way, these changes must be clearly marked in the adjudicators copy.
