To recognise the 45th anniversary of the contest, national semi-finals have been introduced. These will be held on the day prior to the National Final in Wellington. Up to 12 groups will be invited to Wellington to perform in the semi’s on Friday 30 July at the Ilott Theatre with a further six groups going onto the National Final in the Wellington Town Hall on Saturday 31 July.
