District Contest Awards

The Chamber Music New Zealand Prize for the Best Group Over-all

This is awarded to each member of the group adjudicated the best group over-all in each District Contest.  It is a cash prize of $100 to each group member.  All groups entered in the Instrumental Performance Section are eligible for this prize.

Highly Commended

The adjudicator can name up to four other groups as Highly Commended .These groups receive certificates at a later date acknowledging the Highly Commended achievement.

The Statham Award (new in 2011)

Sponsored by Auckland composer Keith Statham, this award of $400 is given at each District Contest for the best performance of a New Zealand work.

KBB Music Awards

These awards are presented to groups at district contests who the adjudicators judge to be striving for excellence in their music making. Groups eligible for this award must contain wind and/or brass and/or percussion instrument(s). The awards are in the form of KBB Music vouchers which are awarded to each member of the group.

The Adjudicator’s Award

Awarded at the adjudicator’s discretion to a group other than the winning one, which is worthy of special  mention.

Certificates

All participants in the District Contests will be presented at the District Contest with a certificate of participation.

 

National Semi-finals and Final Awards

The James Wallace Arts Trust Prize

This is awarded to each member of the winning group at the National Final. Each winning group member receives a minimum of $1,000 cash prize.

The Arthur Hilton Memorial Prize

Each member of the winning group at the National Final will receive the Arthur Hilton Memorial Prize of a relevant musical text for their reference in the future.

The Statham Award 

An award of $1000, and a performance at the National Final, is given for the best performance of a New Zealand work, selected from the District Contest Statham Award winners.

KBB Music Awards

These awards are presented to groups at the National Final. Groups eligible for these awards must contain wind and/or brass and/or percussion instrument(s). The awards are in the form of KBB Music vouchers which are awarded to each member of the group.

SOUNZ Composer Award

This is awarded to the winner of the Original Composition section of the contest. The winner will receive a SOUNZ (Centre for NZ Music) prize of $500 cash and a one year subscription to CANZ (Composer’s Association of New Zealand).

Certificates and Flexi Pass

All participants at the National Semi-final will receive a certificate of participation and a Flexi Pass subscription to Chamber Music New Zealand’s 2013 Concert Season in the centre of their choice.
