*‘This piece was written for and dedicated to NZTrio. It was commissioned as a result of the Trans-Tasman Composer Exchange, a joint project of the Australian Music Centre and SOUNZ, the Centre for New Zealand Music with funding provided by the Music Board of the Australia Council.

Two piano trios from master storyteller Robert Schumann form the foundation of these two programmes, with new commissions from Australasian composers providing the contemporary contrast and surprise. Eloquent Mozart, with Arvo Pärt’s reverent response to a sublime piano adagio complete Programme One; and Programme Two becomes truly universal with colourful trios by Spanish composer Turina and leading American composer Jennifer Higdon.
