The NZTrio are committed to uncovering the unique artistic voices of the Asia-Pacific region and presenting them alongside timeless works from the Western art canon. Their passion and excitement for the piano trio genre places this ensemble firmly in the centre of a continually evolving chamber music tradition.
Recent performance highlights include appearances at the 2008 Beijing Modern Music Festival, 2009 Shanghai Spring Festival and performing Gareth Farr’s Triple concerto with the Vector Wellington Orchestra.
NZTrio’s first CD Spark was a finalist for best Classical Album at the NZ Music Awards in 2006; their 2008 Pacific Rim-focused release Bright Tide Moving Between has also been named a finalist, receiving unanimously high praise from critics and listeners alike. This tour coincides with their latest CD release on Rattle Records.
