Elizabeth Kerr reviews Enso String Quartet's Wellington concert.
"It’s a great initiative by CMNZ to commission works from our composers for visiting international groups… and this one is going to have a big life, it’s going to travel. It’s a very beautiful, very atmospheric work...
"...They ripped into the Ginastera … it’s really full-on, violent, rough, and they played with very lively, colourful playing... very atmospheric, and lots of special effects… I was really impressed with Michael Endres. He played it as if it was his favourite piece of music and as if it was his party piece. He played it with real brio, totally in command with what he was doing, didn’t hold back at all… and the quartet were right there with him. I thought it was terrific.”
