ARTISTS: Sergey Malov (violin), Michael Houstoun (piano), Ashley Brown (cello)
Winner of the 2011 Michael Hill International Violin Competition, Russian-born Sergey Malov teams up with pianist Michael Houstoun for a spellbinding programme of virtuosic repertoire.
In 2011, Sergey won the International Mozart Competition in Salzburg, before winning a hat-trick as he scooped the top prize along with the inaugural Julian Paul Anderson Award for best chamber music player and the Audience Prize at the Michael Hill International Violin Competition.
Revered pianist Michael Houstoun will once again perform with the winner, while NZTrio cellist Ashley Brown will join them for Beethoven’s ‘Ghost’ Trio in Auckland, Hamilton and Wellington.
Be taken on a breath-taking musical ride with music by Schubert, Ysaÿe, and Brahms. From dazzling works by Bartók and Paganini to the restrained passion of Brahms’ First Violin Sonata, there is something to delight everyone.
Sergey and Michael will also perform in 6 centres for CMNZ's Encompass regional series.
