Let this vibrant music transport you back through the streets, piazzas, canals and cathedrals, to the magic and mystery of early 18th century Venice. Carnivals and pageantry, enjoyed and supported by wealthy aristocratic patrons provided plentiful opportunities for musicians and composers. Glorious music commissioned by the church adds to the colourful musical tapestry of the times, and brings history alive in our concert halls.
The work of The Wallfisch Band reflects Chamber Music New Zealand’s commitment to developing the skills and experiences of young musicians. Led by world-class violinist, Elizabeth Wallfisch, a core group of internationally recognised specialists work with and mentor some of New Zealand’s most motivated young musicians currently launching promising careers as early music performers.
