CMNZ is committed to providing equal opportunities for all to ensure everyone can participate and enjoy chamber music.
In 2016 we won the Arts Access Creative New Zealand Arts for all Award, celebrating the achievements of individuals and organisations providing opportunities, for people with limited access, to engage with the arts as artists and audience members.
IHC Accessible Concert Series
Chamber Music New Zealand is leading the way in providing relaxed workshops and performances, where people with intellectual disability can enjoy music in a safe and relaxed environment. The traditional concert hall is not an environment that suits everyone, especially people with intellectual disabilities. From this basic understanding, we started to explore alternative avenues that brought us to the creation of our first workshops and “relaxed performances” for people with intellectual disabilities, in 2012.
We introduced touch tours and audio described concerts for blind and partially sighted patrons. Find out what's coming up in 2018.
